- Abstract
Interference of creatine kinase catalytic concentration measurements by adenylate kinase in hemolytic samples is well known. Underestimating the magnitude of interference especially on the calculated pcrcentage of creatine kinase isoenzyme MB can lead to the false assumption of myocardial infarction or prcsence of creatine kinase BB isoforms. In specimens containing more than 300 mg/l of free hemoglobin and elevated catalytic concentrations of creatine kinase, the immunochemical determinations of other cardiac markers like CK-MB mass concentration, myoglobin, troponin-T or troponin-I give more reliable diagnostic information.
