- Authors
DARDÓN, JUAN M.
- Abstract
The article presents a study on the work and thought of the French author René Daumal, specialized in Hindu philosophy. His intellectual biography is reviewed, as well as his ideas on poetics and the philosophy of art, and the main notions of his essay "The Limits of Philosophical Language and Traditional Knowledge" are exposed. Daumal used negative theology to express the ineffable, and his poetry is inscribed in an impossibility of the sacred. In addition, his work as a translator and essayist is highlighted, as well as his criticism of institutional modes of doing philosophy and his deep knowledge of Indian philosophies. The importance of personal experience in philosophical life and the search for other modes of teaching, learning, and reflective practice are also mentioned.
