- Abstract
The consistency between Corneometer and MoistureMeterSC instruments in measurement of the moisture content of stratum corneum was analyzed, which could provide a theoretical basis for human clinical application. The moisture content of stratum corneum on the inner side of the arms of 24 volunteers was measured using Corneometer and MoistureMeterSC, and the correlation analysis of the two instruments was analyzed via Pearson's correlation coefficient. Consistency analysis was performed by Bland-Altman. Difference analysis was carried out with statistical methods upon the results measured by the two instruments. The reproducibility of the devices was also assessed via CV values. The results show that, the two instruments have good correlation when measuring the moisture content of stratum corneum in the applied area and unapplied area, with r value of 0.667~0.902; CV is below 6%, indicative of good reproducibility; Corneometer and MoistureMeterSC have poor consistency for testing the unapplied area whereas good consistency for testing the applied area. Therefore, Corneometer and MoistureMeterSC have weak consistency. Both Corneometer and MoistureMeterSC are well reproducible. The two instruments have good correlation but poor consistency, so they cannot replace each other. When used, it should be chosen according to the actual clinical needs.
