- Abstract
Eighty participants were attend the 2019 ultrasound technician training and certification conference. Fifty-five of them took the written test and scanned body composition traits of pigs. A mode (n = 33) were scanned backfat (BF) and loin depth (LD) of 30 pigs, whereas B mode (n = 21) were scanned BF and loin eye area (LMA) of 20 pigs. After slaughtering, the composition traits were measured. The correlation between ultrasound and carcass BF using A and B mode ranged from 0.38 to 0.87; 0.70 to 0.89, repeatability ranged from 0.07 to 0.89; 0.26 to 0.87, and the correlation among the operators ranged from 0.48 to 0.95; 0.66 to 0.93, respectively. The qualified rate of technicians using A mode, gives 51.52 and 12.12% when scanning BF and LD, respectively. While using B mode gives 95.24 and 42.86% when scanning BF and LMA, respectively. The results shows that the qualified rates using B mode were higher than those of using A mode. The study certified the ability of on farm test technician.
