- Abstract
This study was conducted aimed at determining the effectiveness of the mindfulness-based therapy in increasing the selfefficacy of chronic pain patients in the city of Bushehr .The statistical population consisted of all chronic pain patients in the city of Bushehr .The research sample was selected by attending doctors' offices, physiotherapy clinics, and psychological counseling centers. The final sample was selected from among those individuals who had volunteered, and eventually 50 subjects met the criteria to be included in the group of intervention. The subjects were randomly divided into two groups (the experimental group and the control group). Both groups completed the research instruments at the pre-test and post-test stage. The instruments used included the Scherer general self-efficacy scale and the Nicholas pain self-efficacy questionnaire. Intervention was applied to the experimental group in 8 sessions of 90 minutes a week. The data were analyzed using the statistical test of MANCOVA. The results showed that the mindfulness-based therapy improved the pain self-efficacy of the experimental group compared with the control group. The findings also suggested that the mindfulness-based therapy approach could be used by mental health professionals as an effective interventional method to increase self-efficacy in chronic pain patients.
