New standard for sustainable carpets approved.
- Abstract
The article reports on the launching of a new standard for evaluating sustainable carpets at the 2007 Greenbuild International Conference in Chicago, Illinois. It was stated that the standard for examining the sustainability and environmental-friendliness of carpets assesses the materials and processes used during the production, including the chemicals and raw products, energy, recycled and bio-based content, methods of disposal, and the overall environmental performance. In addition, the standard was approved by the American National Standards Institute.
