- Abstract
This article discusses Mordecai Richler's essays about male fantasy figures and their connection to Jewish ethnicity. In his 1968 article on the British super-spy James Bond by Ian Fleming, Richler argued that the Bond series is fundamentally anti-Semitic. Richler criticized German Jew Friedrich Wertheimer who critique the culture industry under the influence of Theodor Adorno. According to the author, Richler regarded most superheroes of his youth as Jewish fantasy figures.
