- Abstract
This study was guided by the analysis of religious experience from the Encounter of Couples with Christ (ECC). In this sense, through the method of analysis of the religious experience chosen, this work is linked to the field of the Sciences of Religion, more specifically in one of its subdisciplines, called Psychology of Religion. In general terms, the ECC is a service of the Catholic Church, founded by Father Alfonso Pastore in 1970 and whose main goal is to reorient the marriage bond of couples who are far from the community of faith. In other words, the ECC, as a religious experience, aims at providing a re-signification in the participating couples, which consists first and foremost of perfecting the marriage bond and, later, of the couple's engagement in parish services and in combating social injustices. In order to better understand the impacts generated by the ECC in its participants, the present research used as a theoretical framework the main aspects of Erich Fromm's humanistic psychoanalysis. In this bias, the elucidation of the Frommian theory aims to provide a better understanding of the author's thinking about the act of loving, as well as other aspects of human experience, such as religion, religious experience and spirituality. ECC. Thus, through humanistic psychoanalysis, it was possible to analyze the effects produced on the participants of the Encounter and to elucidate the approximations and distances between Fromm's thought and the religious experience of the ECC. In general, through the results obtained by the field research, it can be said that the ECC tries to establish in married couples the perfection of conjugal love and, later, to amplify this love by means of practices in favor of the neighbor. However, it should be emphasized that the process of re-signification of the love proposed by the ECC is intrinsically associated with the receptivity of each participant, a fact that will affect (or not) the psychic, emotional and spiritual improvement of the individual who experienced the Encounter.
