- Abstract
The homosexual person is often in a fragile situation in the organizations, being target of homophobic jokes, discrimination and inequality of treatment. These violent practices over time can be seen as workplace bullying. This can begin by refusing a difference, which may be manifested by discriminatory behavior. Therefore, this research aims to characterize the occurrences of workplace bullying against homosexuals in organizations of the west region of Santa Catarina state. The research was classified as qualitative and descriptive, targeting homosexual workers from the west of Santa Catarina. For data collection, nine individual interviews were conducted, published on social media and LGBTI+ activist groups. Data analysis was by content analysis. It was evidenced that hostile violence occurred mainly due to the preconception, involving situations of attack against the dignity of the target, in a more direct way, wide and collective, such as: offensive phrases, mockery, insulting criticism, insinuations, jokes and other situations related to homosexuality. The participants believe that the practice of bullying against homosexuals is common because of the great preconception in the society. In addition, it noted that the majority doesn't know in fact of being victim of bullying. Finally, the description of hostile situations such as discrimination against homosexuals in the workplace is fundamental and necessary to demystify a subject that is avoided in the organizations and society, which are, at some way, preconceptions.
