The article discusses the history behind the issue of medical confidentiality as healthcare reforms were put in place in Germany regarding the management of personal medical information. Topics include the intrusion of the German bureaucracy into the doctor-patient relationship and the objectives of the Law on Structural Reform in the Healthcare Sector in Germany regarding the automated processing of personal information.
