- Abstract
The article discusses the country of Denmark and how one can see global art through the lens of that nation and its history. Noted are paintings of the "hongs," the so-called factories of foreign merchants active in Guangzhou harbour in China (named in 1757 as the only place permitted for foreign trade in China.) The article also explores an array of historical events relating to the history of global economic exchange.
