- Title
The circumcision debate - a challenge for religious law and religious education.
- Authors
Schieder, Rolf
- Abstract
The article focuses on the controversy related to circumcision in German law. It states that a draft bill in the German Bundestag states that people should wait regarding circumcision until the child becomes mature in religious matters, but this would postpone religious education at public schools till the students reach maturity. The author is also against the argument that circumcision belongs to medical law because it is related to physical injury, but baptism does not harm the child.
