- Abstract
Focuses on the conflicting results of meta-analysis with the use of induced hypothermia in traumatic brain injury (TBI). Indication of the results of the study conducted that there is no clear evidence of lower mortality rates in unselected TBI patients treated with induced hypothermia; Contradiction of the meta-analysis results to the papers previously published there appears to be a significant reduction in the risk of death and poor neurological outcome in favor of therapeutic hypothermia; Failure of demonstrating the improvements in outcome, underscoring the difficulty of realizing the potential benefits.
