- Title
UN-REMEMBERING MONIQUE WITTIG.
- Authors
Wiegman, Robyn
- Abstract
The author offers responses, reactions and suggestions concerning the body of work produced by feminist theorist Monique Wittig. In light of Wittig's death, the author revisits the various pieces of theory and philosophies at the core of her work and how they bridged feminist theory with what eventually became queer theory. In trying to show the difficulty of presenting Wittig's theories in the university, the author presents pieces of personal narrative that showcase student perspectives and behavior since Wittig's death in 2003. The author ultimately suggests that Wittig not be memorialized in a way that might damage queer theory, but in a way that may lead to the support of multiple philosophies.
