- Title
The Law of Assisted Reproductive Technologies: Imposing Heteronormative Family Structures onto Queer Families.
- Authors
Vacanti Gilroy, Rose Holden
- Abstract
The article argues that laws regulating assisted reproductive technologies (ART) impose heteronormative family structures onto lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) families. Topics discussed are impact of marriage requirements and marital presumptions on queer families, marriage incentives and second-parent adoptions as ways in which the law imposes heterosexual norms, and legal reforms proposed to better protect LGBTQ+ families with ART-conceived children.
