Cash infusion for HIV microbicides.
- Authors
Siva, Nayanah
- Abstract
The article discusses a large sum of grants that has been pledged to the International Partnership for Microbicides. The money stems from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, as well as the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (DFID). These appropriations were pledged following clinical trials that yielded positive results for a vaginal microbicide manufactured by Endo Pharmaceuticals. This provides potential human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) protection that enables an optimistic outlook for novel formulations containing antiretroviral compounds.
