- Title
Navigating the future(s) of biotech intellectual property.
- Authors
Cukier, Kenneth Neil
- Abstract
The article examines the patent system that can be used to protect inventions of biotechnology companies in U.S. and Europe. Managing intellectual property wisely has became one of the vexing problems in the industry. The need to protect innovations has forced the biotech industry to make concessions to open-source research groups. The author asserts that both public and private sectors in biotech should put pressure for changes in the patent system.
