- Authors
Burns, Mark K.
- Abstract
This article revisits the life and work of American writer Washington Irving. In 1835 Irving completed traveling through the American frontier and published "A Tour on the Prairies." The author suggests Irving used this book to examine notions of 'authentic' and 'American' during a time when the country was searching for a self of itself.
