- Abstract
Introduction: Tuberculosis (TB) of the larynx is a rare form of extra-pulmonary tuberculosis. Patient usually presented with hoarseness, dysphagia, odynophagia and some constitutional symptoms such as fever and reduced appetite. Supraglottic tuberculosis presenting with the respiratory tract obstruction is extremely rare. Method: Clinical Report. Result: We present a case of a very aggressive supraglottic tuberculosis mimicking supraglottic carcinoma which requiring a tracheostomy to secure the airway. Conclusion: Although it is extremely rare for laryngeal TB to cause of upper airway obstruction, it should be considered in the differential diagnosis of any patient presented with hoarseness and painful dysphagia. Misdiagnosed or late confirmation can lead to severe consequences to the patient as well as to those in contact with them. Therefore, early recognition is very important.
