- Abstract
"Josiah Royce: Pragmatist, Ethicist, Philosopher of Religion" is a book edited by Christoph Seibert and Christian Polke that emerged from a conference held in 2015 on the American philosopher Josiah Royce. The book includes eleven essays that explore Royce's philosophy, with a particular focus on his ideas about community, religion, and ethics. The essays compare the perspectives of German and American scholars and aim to demonstrate the relevance of Royce's thought for contemporary life. The book also examines Royce's relationship with pragmatism and idealism and explores his views on the individual and the community, loyalty, and the meaning of the absolute.
