- Abstract
The article takes a look back at the Rousseau Diary and the Earp Wagon Train to San Bernardino, California in 1864. Topics covered include how four Iowa families, which include the Curtises, the Earps, and the Rousseaus, decided to move to California because of its less liberal attitude toward political diversity compared to Iowa in the aftermath of the Emancipation Proclamation by then U.S. president Abraham Lincoln.
