- Abstract
The article discusses the petition stage of cases involving abused and neglected children in the U.S. It refers to the petition clause of the First Amendment which reveals the fundamental right of children to petition courts to access court proceedings while protecting them being subject to the executive branch's voluntary dismissal. Also explored are the doctrine of parens patriae and Supreme Court jurisprudence related to the protection of the child's interests.
