- Abstract
In the 1880s, the oligarchic administrations of Julio Argentino Roca and Miguel Juárez Celman faced diplomatic claims linked to the Falklands. This constituted contradiction within the political-economic model promoted by the PAN (National Autonomist Party), since it put the ties with Great Britain in conflict, producing undesired disagreements by among elites. The foregoing also clashed with British international interests related to the possession of its colonies. The following article aims to demonstrate how the making of a map led to a diplomatic dispute, facing the Antarctic-Patagonian policy of the President Roca government with the colonial posture of England.
