- Abstract
The article discusses the manual "Reglas y obligaciones para el Congregante de la Congregación de la Buena Muerte" published by Congregación de la Buena Muerte in 1747. Topics discussed include role of the Congregación as a community sharing accountability for the salvation of each member's soul, controversy regarding the Novo-Hispanic congregations and confraternities from the eighteenth century and the Congregación concerns with death, burial and commemoration of the dead.
