- Abstract
This article discusses a case of pyogenic facet joint infection (PFJI) in a 53-year-old man. PFJI is a rare spinal infection that is typically caused by Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococci. The infection usually affects a unilateral lumbar facet joint and is characterized by acute, severe pain and elevated inflammatory markers. MRI is the most effective method for diagnosing PFJI, and treatment typically involves a course of antibiotics. PFJI has a good prognosis and does not usually result in long-term complications.
