- Title
ON THE FIXING OF OUR GAZE.
- Authors
Schall, James V.
- Abstract
The author reflects on the first lines from the Tenth Canto of Italian poet Dante's "Paradiso." He argues that the praise given to Italian philosopher Machiavelli of being buried in the Santa Croce church with Dante in the same church is not equal. An overview of Machiavelli's belief that contradicts the words of Socrates is offered. He emphasizes that God looks upon a person's actions and words, and that it is up to people whether they should act on Machiavelli's principles or not.
