- Abstract
In this article the authors present a description of various elements of educational research they have identified as being important for literacy, or reading and writing, educators to know. They argue for research being a guiding element in teaching practice, examine the purpose of literacy education research, and explore how various types of research apply to different situations. They also discuss how data-driven research can be used by teachers in their development of instructional practices and analyze the importance of research quality.
