Abstract
The article reports on the role of the press relations (PR) departments of companies in the U.S. wherein they also lead the marketing efforts. It states that the chief communications officers(CCO) of companies play a strategic role which are more aligned with the marketing function. According to Harry Pforzheimer, CCO at Intuit Inc., most of the growth of companies is driven by its PR function and its ability to convey marketing messages to the public.
