- Abstract
The article examines nutrition research which explores the relationship between vitamin D and breast cancer. According to the article, there is limited epidemiological support for the hypothesis that vitamin D lowers the risk of breast cancer. The article discusses ultraviolet light radiation, the physiological effects of sunlight exposure, factors that influence vitamin D synthesis, how the glycemic index and body mass index affect the availability of vitamin D in the body, vitamin D receptors, and dairy products fortified with vitamin D.
