- Title
Hekatompathia (1582) and Thomas Watson's Edition of Petrarch.
- Authors
Vuillemin, Rémi
- Abstract
The article considers the folio of works by Italian poet Petrarch, titled "Francisci Petrarchae Florentini...OPERA quae extant omnia..." as the closest match to the edition of poems that English poet Thomas Watson used for his poetic sequence "Hekatompathia, or passionate centurie of loue." It mentions the matching of Watson's numbering of the poems to that of the folio of sonnets except in two instances, as well as the matching spelling except for two mistakes.
