- Authors
Gallagher, Robert
- Abstract
The article examines the authorship of the Latin poem "Metrical Calendar of Hampson." Topics discussed include the role of the text as the most substantial Latin poetry surviving from Britain from the middle of the ninth to the early tenth centuries, representation of a day of the calendric year through saints' feasts, obits and biblical, seasonal and astronomical events in the poem, and possibility that the poem was composed by two individuals in the earlier decades of the 10th century.
