- Title
A SURREPTITIOUS STATE OF MARVELL'S MISCELLANEOUS POEMS (1681)?
- Authors
ALLSOPP, NIALL
- Abstract
The article looks at a copy of the book "Miscellaneous Poems" by Andrew Marvell held in the Senate House Library of the University of London. Particular focus is given to the variant imprint in this copy of the book, which omits the name and location of the book's publisher, Robert Boulter. According to the author, the omission may reflect the fraught political atmosphere in which the poems were published and may be connected to Boulter's decision to cancel the publication of some poems..
