- Title
IN SEARCH OF FEBRUARY'S SOLITARY STRAWBERRY FLOWER: CONJECTURE ABOUT MISDATED ENTRIES IN DOROTHY WORDSWORTH'S ALFOXDEN JOURNAL.

- Abstract
The article focuses on the February entries of Dorothy Wordsworth's "Alfoxden Journal." The presence of that "solitary strawberry flower under a hedge," mentioned in the 4 February entry is misleading one. To one accustomed to seeing strawberries flower in early June, this is an arresting observation. It may have been an unusual sight for Dorothy too and might explain the reason for the entry. According to John Gerard's "The Herbal," strawberries blossom in the spring, in April and May, as do furze, daisies and hazel, all mentioned in the same entry.
