- Abstract
The X-Ray Repair Cross-Complementing Group 1(XRCC1) gene is one of the repair DNA genes, a Arg399Gln SNP relation with oxidative stress was proposed in present study, type 2 DM in different age and BMI were enrolled in present study, four primers were used to detection gene polymorphism in addition to glycemic parameters included fasting blood glucose, glycated proteins insulin level, insulin resistance and sensitivity. Oxidative stress markers represented by Reactive oxygen species and total antioxidant were detection also, the results show significant differences in all glycemic parameters and oxidative stress between patients and control group (p0.000). the genotyping shows non-significant association the XRCC1 with DM2 (OR 2.37, P 0.082) and (OR 0.214, P 0.33) for AG, GG and GG, AA respectively; in spite of high frequency of AG in patients than control. The effect of genotyping in glycemic parameters and oxidative stress shows non-significant differences in all parameters except HbA1c (P 0.002) and ROS (P 0.029) in patients groups. The present finding concluded that the XRCC1 may be associated with DM, ROS and glycated proteins and these need further investigations.
