- Abstract
The article presents two main topics. The first one focuses on the use of serum neurofilament light chain (NfL) as a potential prognostic biomarker in Parkinson's disease. It was found that serum NfL levels were significantly correlated with clinical scales assessing motor and cognitive impairment in Parkinson's patients. These findings suggest that serum NfL could be a complementary tool for monitoring and treating the disease. The second topic refers to semantic interoperability in electronic medical record systems in Colombia. The need to implement changes in semantic interoperability to improve information exchange among different healthcare system stakeholders in Colombia was identified. It was found that implementing a single interoperable electronic medical record system would benefit healthcare, coordination among system stakeholders, and patient involvement in their own care.
