- Abstract
In recent years, the country has been actively promoting the construction of “Multi-Network Connection” of rail transportation to support the development of urbanization, and the suburban railway functions as an important linkage in the “Multi-Network Connection”. In order to realize the rational and scientific construction and development of suburban railway, its line and network planning should be addressed. In this paper, we propose a scientific assessment method for suburban railway network planning in order to provide a reference for the decision making of suburban railway network and overall rail transportation network in metropolitan areas. A multi-objective evaluation index system is established from four perspectives: the degree of multi-network connection, the support strength of the metropolitan area, the operational service capacity, and the possibility of program implementation, and the TOPSIS method based on the information entropy weighting method and the AHP combination weighting method is applied to realize the quantitative comprehensive evaluation analysis of the planning program. The results show that the planning scheme with higher utilization of existing railroads is the best, and it can make full use of railroad capacity and realize reasonable allocation of transportation resources in the metropolitan area on one hand, and better integrate all levels of rail transportation in the metropolitan area and serve the exchange of passengers in the metropolitan area on the other hand.
