- Title
Chapter 6: Local ablation therapy.
- Abstract
The article focuses on various procedures for local ablation therapy including the transcatheter arterial embolization, percutaneous ethanol injection therapy (PEIT) and percutaneous microwave coagulation therapy (PMCT). The transcatheter arterial embolization was developed by Yamada and colleagues and is regarded as the first treatment approach to the effective local treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma. It notes that PEIT is conducted under ultrasonographic imaging and involves the infusion of ethanol.
