- Abstract
The article describes the case of a 55-year-old Japanese man observed to have a 2-month history of a black mass in his right eye which was later confirmed to be squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) in situ with pigmented dendritic melanocytes within the epithelial tumor. Conjunctival SCC grows in either the limbal or bulbar conjunctiva as a fleshy, pink, amelanotic, sometimes plaquelike mass. The patient was treated initially with 0.02% mitomycin C (MMC) drops 3 times daily for 1 week.
