- Title
DISCUSSIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS - Pensions and Retirement Plans as a Subject of Collective Bargaining.
- Authors
Jensen, Vernon H.
- Abstract
The article discusses issues concerning the inclusion of pensions and retirement plans as a subject of collective bargaining in the U.S. Bargaining over pension and retirement plans is no different from bargaining over other conditions of employment, or over wages. The major consideration whether pension and retirement plans should fall within the scope of collective bargaining is being ignored. If it is not feasible to bargain over such plans, it is also not possible to permit the establishment of private pension plans to interfere with the achievement and operation of a national, social plan.
