An essay is presented which explores theological and philosophical aspects of the book "The Responsibility of Reason," by Ralph C. Hancock. The author reflects on Western philosophical conceptions of the good and the dangers of modernity, extreme rationalism and materialism. Other topics include the relationship between the ideas of philosopher Alain Badiou and Mormon theology.
