The authors discuss research conducted by H. I. Harn and colleagues which investigated mechanical properties of keloid fibroblasts (KF). Topics explored include the role of KF in the pathogenesis of keloid formation, the elastic behaviour and biphasic distribution associated with KF, and the contribution of focal adhesion kinase activity to reduction in filament elasticity.
