- Abstract
The article focuses on a study of human and porcine community reservoirs of Enterococcus faecalis clonal types associated with human infective endocarditis (IE) in Denmark. The study assessed E. faecalis isolates collected from IE patients during the 1996-2002 period. The identification of 14 sequence types (ST) among the 20 IE isolates was made using multilocus sequence typing. It concludes that IE isolates are genetically related to isolates from community-dwelling humans.
