- Abstract
Electronically stored information is expanding faster than the ability of many organizations to manage it making Companies vulnerable to cyber-attack. These days with nearly all businesses records stored in an electronic format and all computers connecting to the internet, investigation of white-collar crimes and cyber threats requires expert forensic methodologies focused especially on handling electronic data and responding to cybercrime. The present study aims at exploring the concept and relevance of forensic accounting in the cyber world as a new challenge for accountants. It can be concluded from the study that Forensic accounting has come up as an effective tool for preventing this menace. It is still in a nascent stage and requires technological reinforcement on a continuous basis and global cooperation. It will develop as a specialized profession of accountancy and its importance to law enforcing agencies and also regulators will increase day by day.
