- Abstract
The article presents a review of an auction held in New York City on May 6, 2009. The auction, "The Paula Peyraud Collection: Samuel Johnson and Women Writers in Georgian Society," hosted by Bloomsbury Auctions, is described, noting that the Paula Peyraud Collection was the largest collection of privately-held Georgian-era books, manuscripts, and images in existence. The sale of the majority of the collection by lot is noted, mentioning that most buyers were collectors or buying agents representing U.S. libraries, and the total sales for the auction totaled over $1.5 million.
