Who should be allowed to perform amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling?
- Authors
Alfirevic, Z.
- Abstract
In this article the author discusses centralization and competency for services in amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling. He asserts that competency should not be avoided considering the decline in invasive prenatal procedures brought by introduction of sophisticated screening tests. He discusses the necessity of regular practice of skills and cites the important role of skilled generalists in high-quality obstetric care. He also reveals the quality and safety measures in fetal medicine.
