- Abstract
The goal of our study was the qualitative evaluation of the anterior cerebral commissure on dissected anatomical pieces. Material and methods: the anatomical material consisted of 45 adult brains, fixated in formalin solution for 10-16 weeks. The images were acquired with a Zeiss operator microscope and recorded on a Sony F717 digital camera. Results and discussions: this study of the anterior cerebral commissure allowed us to create an original regionalization of this structure in four distinct segments. Conclusions: The comparative study of the anatomical pieces provided a useful baseline for imagistic data interpretation. The qualitative analysis of the anterior cerebral commissure led us to create a practical regionalization of this structure and to recognize it as an important landmark of the third cerebral ventricle.
