- Abstract
A Guide for the Perplexed is Dara Horn's fourth novel. Horn constructs a pan-historiography of memory and history, theory and practice in her inspiring use of Jewish rhetoric and displays a distinctively Jewish tradition of parallelism. This study attempts to push forward the discussion of the nature and impact of Hebrew parallelism in Horn's novel. Through this structure based on Hebrew parallelism, Horn endeavors to establish a dialogue with the past and calls for the return to the Hebrew tradition and culture. In addition, Horn calls for a peaceful and harmonious living condition for human beings, since Jews of the 20th century underwent devastation known as the Holocaust from humankind's sibling rivalries.
