- Abstract
In Romania, everybody talks about social work, from officials of the Labor Ministry to village mayors, but there is hardly any or no discussion at all about those without whom the social work benefits and services cannot be performed - the Social Workers. Moreover, you can hear people talking about the national social work system (which system? I wonder) - one that is even modern and responds to the needs of all those that are experiencing any social crisis. Perhaps these lines might sound harsh; perhaps, I subjectively experience the lack of trust and worth given to an essential profession for the well-being of people as well as the lack of involvement on authorities' side in order to implement Law no. 466/2004 regarding the social worker's status and all the other special laws, also the lack of reaction and a weak belonging feeling to the professional body on social workers' side; social workers tired by their clients. burdens (far too many clients for one social worker), by low wages and bosses that do not understand what social work is about.
