- Abstract
The article focuses on the role of occupational physical activity in the goal of meeting the 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans. It is said that regular physical activity is beneficial in maintaining a healthy weight and limiting the chances of developing chronic diseases. It discusses a study by the Washington State Department of Health (WADOH) in which 2007 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) data were analyzed and results of which indicate that an additional 6.5% of adults are likely to meet the guidelines as a result of occupational physical activity. Results also show that Hispanic men and men with less than a high school education posted the maximum gains in terms of the proportion that meet the guidelines when including occupational physical activity.
