- Abstract
The article focuses on a study which described a network model of cooperative genetic landscape in gliomas, one of the most fatal human tumors. Gliomas are believed to develop from the accumulation of recurrent chromosomal alterations. The study utilized multidimensional genomic and clinical profiles of patients with gliomas from various academic centers in the U.S. and the Cancer Genome Atlas Pilot Project (TCGA). It discovered that the alteration of multiple networking genes due to recurrent chromosomal aberrations in gliomas deregulates the signaling pathways through multiple mechanisms. Study authors noted that the identification of the interaction between gene alterations may be relevant to glioma treatment.
